New World Pt Chev
New World | Pt Chevalier
When Foodstuffs North Island needed to bring forward the opening of New World Point Chevalier after the devastating fire at New World Victoria Park in Auckland, the pressure was on. A project already running to tight timeframes suddenly needed to open three weeks earlier than planned. It was a moment where every partner had to step up - and Sharp Signs delivered.
Appointed after a competitive RFP process, Sharp Signs was entrusted with both the external and internal signage packages for the new supermarket. That meant everything from large illuminated building signage, pylons, and car park wayfinding, through to aisle navigation, department headers, compliance signage, decals, vinyl graphics, and promotional features. In short, every touchpoint a customer or team member would see, inside and out. Our team was responsible for bringing the New World brand to life across the entire site - and doing it in record time.
This project was about more than just producing signage. It was about strategy, coordination, and trust. From the outset, our in-house design and manufacturing teams worked closely with Foodstuffs, GN Construction, and the wider project partners to stage delivery around the evolving build programme. We adapted quickly to on-site variations, staying three weeks on the ground to ensure changes could be designed, produced, and installed within 24 hours if required. This responsiveness proved critical in keeping the project moving while maintaining the quality and consistency expected of the New World brand.
The Point Chevalier site also presented architectural challenges, with extensive glass frontages requiring custom solutions. Rather than apply a standard approach, we collaborated directly with the Foodstuffs design team to engineer custom features, including a striking three-panel Contra Vision Welcome installation at the main entrance. The result maximised the impact of the architecture while maintaining brand integrity.
By the time the doors opened on 19 August, Sharp Signs had delivered a comprehensive signage package that met the accelerated timeline without compromise. From bold exterior features and car park navigation to seamless in-store wayfinding and regulatory signage, every element was executed to the highest standard.
For Sharp Signs, this project reinforced what sets us apart: the scale of our in-house capability, the reliability of our project management, and the trust our clients place in us to deliver under pressure. Whether it’s a large-scale supermarket, a retail chain, or a one-off commercial development, we bring the same expertise, responsiveness, and commitment to quality that make us a signage partner clients can rely on.
